Penny Moon is a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, former teacher, author and the founder of A Quiet Place® in Liverpool. For more than thirty-five years, her work has moved between schools, therapeutic settings, families and community spaces, always with the same question at its centre: what helps a person feel safe enough to learn, imagine, change and become more fully themselves?
Her practice brings together therapeutic storytelling, attention and concentration work, creativity, neurodiversity, emotional intelligence and the quietly radical belief that children and adults are more than their difficulties. Penny has created A Quiet Place environments in schools, libraries, residential homes and an NHS intensive-care waiting room, working with the atmosphere of a place as carefully as with the words spoken inside it.
She writes stories, reflective books and practical resources. Her work includes Cordon Noir, a playful meditation on slow cooking and change; children’s booklings such as Me and My Shadow, The Real Secret and Is a Human a Hiccup?; and Ready Steady Learn, a classroom toolkit developed from her early work in an autism school. Her current work also includes AI Dreaming, an ongoing inquiry into creativity, consciousness and what can emerge when human imagination meets artificial intelligence with curiosity rather than fear.
Penny lives near the Dee marshes, where sky, water, birds, stories and family life regularly interrupt all sensible plans.

Cordon Noir
A reflective, gently humorous book about change, patience, and preparation.
