Fiona Linday is from the East Midlands where she supported literacy in schools for twenty years. After achieving a Creative Writing Certificate there was a prize-winning YA short story, Off the Beaten Track. A Unique Writing Publications Story Award followed for her life writing called Love. Her YA novella about loss is called Get Over It, Adventures. Occasionally, Fiona enjoys freelance facilitating with lifelong learners. She received Arts Council England grants for Family Matters & Making Our World Better community anthologies in Leicester. She models short stories and poetry in workshops. She coaches writers to encourage vocational learners to tell their own stories. Her collection of inspirational stories and poetry is Count Our Blessings. Recently, she edited Moments of Grace-Creative Nonfiction & Poetry by Scriptorium Writers and Guests with the group she runs at Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Her muse often has a Christian voice.
As a grandma to six, Fiona self-published a resilience-building, wildlife picture book series including: Sofia Swan Flies the Nest and Felicity Frog Finds Her Way. These champion wild animals in their natural habitats, which she reads to small Early Years’ groups. Working for over five years as a creative mentor of children with care experience, she produced a small print run of a picture book celebrating a positive foster family story, Who Cares About Superheroes. Fiona uses it in her practice to help some of her younger mentees identify with her characters. She is currently drafting another picture book, Leo’s Roaring Adventure which shows how a cheeky five-year-old protagonist learns from his pet cat how to win friends at school. That picture book is out soon.
As a member of the East Midlands Society of Authors, she recently took part in their inaugural 2026 Nottingham Book Festival. She has written several articles about the pedagogy of writing for the National Association of Writing in Education’s magazine.
