It’s been quite a month of The Mighty Creatives in Europe so far: from attending the inspirational Culture Action Europe “Beyond Many” conference in Turin, to plotting a Horizon bid with Loredana Matarrese in Bari, to now starting our research and evaluation journey in Dublin with Jo Stockdale and the Creative Connections Shared Island pilot programme with partners in Ireland and Northern Ireland, it’s like Brexit never happened! But it did – and there’s lots of repair work to be done. In the meantime, working with educators today has reminded of how great it is to have a great teacher – and God knows, there’s not enough of them around. And it’s fitting to feel that this has been knocked out in a great Irish pub.
There’s Nothing Quite Like A Great Teacher
There’s nothing quite like a great teacher,
They help us come to exist,
They sweat and they strive,
They work and they drive
Us to distraction
And a desire
to thrive.
I’m lucky to know a great teacher,
He switched me on to the lights;
And the stage and the lines,
And the songs and the minds
Of great writers,
Who continue to live though
They’ve died.
If I could make a great teacher,
I’d be delighted to help lend a hand,
To someone’s future ambition,
Their hopes and their dreams
Show them their lives are
Fine and not as bad
as they seem.
